DAY HILL DOME RECEIVES P&Z APPROVAL FROM TOWN OF WINDSOR
New facility will feature the region’s only full-size indoor field; becomes the
next piece of burgeoning sports development on Day Hill Road in Windsor
Windsor, CT – Planned as the premier sports facility in the region, the Day Hill Dome received Planning & Zoning Commission approval at its public hearing on Tuesday night. The Dome will provide 100,000 square feet (250’ x 400’) of clear span indoor field space and an integrated 7,700 square foot support facility. Custom engineering will allow visitors to travel between the support area and the field without going through an airlock – the first of its kind in the Northeast.
The Day Hill Dome will feature the region’s only full-size (70 x 120 yard) indoor field. The multi-purpose, professional-grade FieldTurf surface will be perfect for many sports, including soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and football. With an inlaid turf infield and 80-foot ceilings, the Dome will also be an excellent choice for indoor baseball training.
Focused on providing a best-in-class experience for players, parents, coaches, and fans, the Day Hill Dome will be climate controlled year-round and feature a 75-yard, second-floor viewing deck. Add to that a natural skylight, LED field lighting that exceeds national standards, a Wi-Fi café, and a dedicated drop-off/pick-up lane with abundant parking, and the Dome will be a premier sports destination.
Open to players of all ages and abilities and located less than two miles off I-91 (exit 38), the Day Hill Dome will be accessible and convenient. With numerous existing and planned hotels and restaurants on Day Hill Road, it will have all the amenities necessary to host regional and national tournaments. The highly successful Fastpitch Nation tournament softball complex is located within the same development.
“We are excited to start construction soon on our one-of-a-kind facility,” says Vincent DiCarlo, president and general manager of the Day Hill Dome. “The goal from our initial discussions was to develop a world-class sports environment, and this Planning & Zoning approval brings us one step closer to delivering our facility to the region.”
In planning since early 2019, the Day Hill Dome has already secured local and regional strategic partners to use the facility when it opens in the Fall of 2021. Phase two plans include outdoor fields with lights and additional amenities.
